there is a striking amount of detail in
Cosmic Soup by ~
Atomic-Clover. Every inch of this is a work of art on its own. The fact that its done in crayola markers does well to prove that its not the tools, but how you use them. (

The second thing that hit me was the striking resemblance to a piece of art by Ayumi Kasai, and upon finding the piece I had in mind [link] found it to be very similar.
Thus the main criticism would be the act of plagiarising the original work by not referencing it in any way.
Giving a reference would also help in allowing the viewer to compare the works and see how you were influenced and interpreted the style and imagery.
Stylistically the characters are very interesting. The faces add a lot to the piece, giving it some emotional conveyance. The anatomy of the girl on the left is somewhat distracting, especially since the pale skin tones attract attention due to them some of the least saturated areas of the piece.
The fact that the image is comprised of so many colours is not so much a problem technically, as the fact that everything merges together in the image. There is no real differentiation between elements in the foreground from those in the midground and background.
There is no great difference in tonal values, which is the main issue as it makes everything appear on a flat plane with no light or shadows to help the viewer form distance ratios, only the knowledge that a butterfly should be bigger than a perosn, thus it is in the foreground.
The colouring itself is also rather unrefined, which doesn't help with the separation of different elements within the image. Especially with the lack of tone, it would probably have been a good idea to have outlined the different objects more solidly after colouring. This would have made it far easier to distinguish object from patterns.
