DL TO FULL VIEW the thing is retardedly huge

MY UNNECESSARILY LONG PRISMACOLOUR MARKER TUTORIAL with really bad spelling

lots of ppl have been asking me how I colour, I hope this can help even tho its really hard to understand and im really bad at explaining things and i dont even know what im doing half the time :iconimconstipatedplz:

original can be found:

total drawing time from sketch to finished scanned copy took me somewhere between 17-25 hours

SUM FAQs:
what medium do you use?
Prismacolor markers [link] I own a few copics, but I prefer prismacolors. Their nibs are harder, and so it's easier to make strong contrasts and bright, saturated blocks of colour. Don't get me wrong, I think copics' soft, brushy look is beautiful, both markers have their own unique style, I just personally prefer Prismacolors c:

where do you buy them?
I bought my first 40-something boxset at Micheals Craft Store back in 8th grade when they had some uber sale going on, since then I buy them on Dickblick.com cuz they're much cheaper xD

have you tried the generic DickBlick version of prismacolor markers?
I have a couple, but i havn't had the need to use them yet D: from what i can tell they're pretty much the same tho...

where do u buy ur white gel pen?
Micheals. I live there. it sucks up all my money. it's bad.

what paper do you use?
- I like to use my Copic brand marker paper best, it's thick and smooth, and so allows for much more color absorbance is that a word?so it's easier to get smooth blending, but regular printer paper works fine too, since it's thinner it gets saturated quicker, but will result in different, but just as nice results : D
some pictures i've done on normal 8.5x11 printer paper: [link] [link] [link]

UHM, theres probably more but i cant remember. IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS, DON'T HESITATE TO ASK 8D

I must say, this is my favorite tutorial :). I keep coming back because number one, your artwork is amazing, and number two, you make prismacolor markers more attractive than copic (don't be offended!). It's just a beautifully crafted tutorial, I love it^^.

Amy: How many colors do you think are necessary to do good shading and do you know where I could buy them individually? Like, just one marker? I only have the 24 set right now, and I shan't be buying another set anytime soon since I don't have a great deal of money right now, but my set doesn't come with a good skin-color. I know where I can buy copics individually, but I think I've only seen Prismacolors in sets.
